Trinidad Passion - The Fist
When in Trinidad, I bought a book by local poet and Nobel Prize Winner for Literature, Derek Walcott. I think you'll understand why he won. Read this poem. Memorize it. Savour it.
The Fist
The fist clenched round my heart
Loosens a little , and I gasp
Brightness; but it tightens again . When have I ever not loved the pain of love? But this has moved
Past love to mania.This has the strong
Clench of the madman, this is gripping the ledge of unreason, before plunging howling into the abyss.
Hold hard then, heart . This way at least you live.

I really like this poem, and have enjoyed your blog, although time did not allow me to look over the entire contents. I enjoyed looking over your short films and clips, nice work! Love and Passion
To me that poem meant so much bcos i understand it. Mom, I've been watching you since I was born. In 1995 you went to Trinidad and came back home wit this news paper ( with your picture on the cover haha!! ) all excited. Few seconds later you pulled out some CD's that u right away blasted in the boom box, u pulled out some " plantain chips " and some jars of hot sauce that look like toxic lava. You know i still wonder HOW you get those jars to make it all the way back here lol but anyways mommy you started talking for hours and making me and dad and Fred taste this and that and listen to this and that. You kept talking about the music, talking about the culture, talking about the dancing, talking about the beautiful sceneries, talking about your friends, talking about how Patricia said this and that and then Isaeli replied this and then you went out and you saw this local and he showed u this and blah... basicly talking none stop 24/7 about Trinidad and how much fun you had and how much u love it and can't wait to go back.
The next years to come kept gettin crazier and crazier, who wouldve thought a person could have so much to say about Trinidad! lol or about any country really... its cos I know mommy that the minute you prob stepped out of the plane n took a breath u were lifted out of this world into another one. You felt free, you felt like untouchable and alive. For so long I've been watching you and never have I ever seen you so happy and determined and it makes me so happy to see you like this. I can understand why you put this poem on the blog because the title speaks for itsself really. Trinidad, its more than just a country to u, its heaven on earth. It somehow put you in a trance and I know that you are a fighter and you will do anything you can, as passionated as you are, to make the best movie ever seen. I see you giving it your all to put your feelings on paper and try to touch others with your passion, to try and give others dreams and hopes and to show yourself that anything is possible. To proove to yourself that dreams CAN come true. I'm here backing u up all the way, you and Alex are like rum n coke. You both taste amazing alone but together, damn you make a wonderful drink! lol hehe :P
